SMP(SCALP MICRO PIGMENTATION)
Scalp micro pigmentation (SMP), is a cosmetic procedure where small, distinct dots of color are applied to the superficial layers of the skin to create the appearance of very short hair strands. A needle-like instrument is used to deliver a dot of special pigment; each minute dot is devised to resemble a single, very short clipped, follicular unit. When skillfully applied, the thousands of SMP dots can create a natural effect, similar to a pointillist painting.
Unlike traditional tattooing techniques, SMP does not deeply penetrate the skin and is therefore much less invasive. This more superficial application of pigment will usually last 3 to 4 years, before requiring maintenance treatment. SMP is also much less prone to the color change, typically seen with body tattoo inks, since a different type pigment system is used.
